The mission of the Naval Academy Flying Squadron is to provide midshipmen with a means to gain practical flight experience in general aviation aircraft. In addition to the Flying Squadron, the Academy has the Initial Flight Syllabus (IFS) program for first-class midshipmen who are selected for aviation to get hours before flight school.
